Creatively or Candidly

An archetype is a very typical example of a certain person or thing and pattern. For the last week we have been reading and watching The Tragedy of Julius Caesar. In The Tragedy of Julius Caesar there are three types of archetypes character, situational, and symbolic. I will explain them with a modern example in the paragraphs below.

My first archetype is The Task. In The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, Brutis sets out to help kill Caesar. The reason Brutis helps kill Caesar is because Cassius tricked him into believing that Caesar was a bad ruler and needed to be killed. So Bruits helped them by lowering Caesar to the place of the senators were he would shortly be killed. My modern example of the task was The Lion King because there was a scene in the movie that was similar to this task in The Tragedy Of Julius Caesar. The scene is when Scar, Mufasa’s brother, wanted to kill him. So Scar took Simba to the badlands and sent Zazu to get Mufasa so that he can attempt to save samba and get stampeded by the gazelle’s and die.

My second archetype is Hero. Caesar and Brutis is both tragic hero’s in The Tragedy of Julius Caesar. For those who don’t know what a tragic hero is it is a tragic hero is a literary character who makes a judgment error that inevitably leads to his/her own destruction. So by that being said Caesar is a tragic hero because he has so much pride in himself that when his wife has a dream him dying and comes and warn him about his death he doesn’t listen. Brutis on the other hand felt guilty about helping them assassinate Caesar and he committed suicide. Frozen is a good example of a tragedy because Queen Elsa of Arendell is born with powers to manipulate ice and snow, but cannot find away to control it. So she leaves Arendell after an altercation between her and her sister Anna. When tries to pull off her glove and she gets upset and her powers are exposed. The town’s people of Arendell set out to kill her.

My third archetype is Wisdom/Stupidity. This topic relates to Caesar ingoing the wise soothsayer. Caesar ignored the soothsayer because he didn’t believe him because he had so much pride and a high self-esteem. Tom & Jerry is a prime example of wisdom/stupidity. Jerry (mouse) and Tom (cat) are living in the same house and Tom tries to eat Jerry. Tom always fails to catch jerry because he is smatter than him.

A benefit to identifying archetypes is to look for a pattern.

Blacklisting in the 1940’s and 1950’s

The Hollywood Blacklisting of 1940s and 1950s was when Hollywood screenwriters and directors were branded a communist threat and accused of spying and using spies to spy on the government. This horrible occurrence was similar to “The Salem Witch Trails” because they both deal with people accused of doing things they weren’t doing. In the “The Salem Witch Trails” over 200 people were accused of doing witchcraft. I feel like people should know things like this because it was wrong and it can happen again in some states. It is only illegal in some states not all and they should know some history about it just incase it occur again.

The Blacklist in the 1940s and 1950s was when the United States was in a grip of “ Red Scare.” However, this was the second Red Scare. The first Red Scare was in the early 20th history of the United States marked by a widespread fear of Bolshevism and anarchism, due to real and imagined events; real events included those such as the Russian Revolution. As stated previously the Hollywood Blacklist suspected many individuals of sympathizing with liberal or humanitarian causes were branded a communist threat and even accused of spying or using spies. The people who were blacklisted were screenwriter’s, actors, directors, musicians, producers, editors, and any other US entertainment professional. They thought they were spying on the government. Some of the people were Alvan Bessie (1904-1985), Herbert J. Biberman (1900-1971) and Lester Cole (1904-1985 and many more.

The ones who didn’t tell on the people who were blacklisted were Hollywood screenwriters and directors known as the Hollywood Ten. For example Lester Cole was a screenwriter and Edward Dmytryk was a director. They received jail sentences and were banded from working for the major Hollywood studios or a death sentence. This being the case they were placed at center stage in a national debate over the controversial anti-communist crackdown. In fact this swept the United States in the late 1940s and 1950s. All of this took place because of their defiant stands.

My research came from two websites

GREEK DANCING

The topic that I have chosen is Greek Dancing. The story that lead me to pick my topic is “The Teacher Who Changed My Life” by Nicholas Gage. We currently read this story this following week. My research relates to the story because at the end of “The Teacher Who Changed My Life” they talk about Greek Dance. I’ve never watched a movie with Greek dancers in it. Google says that there’s a movie by the name “Zorba the Greek” that has Greek dancing in it.

Some questions that I wanted to know was what is Greek dance? Where did Greek dance originate? What ceremonies do Greek dancers perform? After goggling my questions I came up with 3 answers to match my questions. They were Greek dance is a very old tradition, being referred to by authors such as Plato, Aristotle, Plutarch and Luncian. Greek dance is a dance that starts off slow then speeds up. The fast dances are called Dionysian dance. The Greek dance originated from the Greek Butchers Guide. The Greek mythology attributes the origin of dancing to Rea who taught this art to Kourties. Greek dancers perform at Religious Ceremonies. The religious dancers were called Apollonian’s. They were also performed with instruments such as Lyres, Lutes, and Kitharas. They may also be performed at funerals. My topic was easy to research. I found all my answers to my questions on the first try.

My research came from three reliable sources Google.com, historyforkids.net, and lemonandolives.com. The best part of this assignment to me was finding your own topic instead of picking from topics given to you. Why do I say that because u get to read, see and learn about the many different topics that others have chosen, and theirs a rare chance that you and somebody else will choose the same topic. If I could research another topic it will be how are relationships between father and son different from a mother and son relationship. Why, because I feel that theirs always one that you will bond with more than the other. What do you think? If you had to choose enjoy and learn something from my blog? Thank You For Choosing My Blog To Read👻👻.

IF ONLY I COULD TAKE IT BACK

It was two days until New Years Eve when Ashley received a text message from her mom. The message read Mom: Do you and your brother want to come and spend New Years with me. Ashley: I’ll have to ask my dad. Mom: You don’t have to ask your dad anything I am your mother. Ashley: I have to ask my dad because he is the one who have to bring me over there. Mom: I’m not talking to your daddy f*** your daddy. Ashley: ok mother, I don’t want to fuss with you. Mom doesn’t reply. Ashley gets upset and goes to sleep. Around 8:45 p.m. Ashley is woken up by a phone call by her mom. Ashley answers and her mom starts to yell at her. Ashley tries to talk to her mother about it but she is not listening, she is just yelling at her constantly. So Ashley listens and after her mother is done yelling and fussing at her she tried to talk to her but her mother did not want to talk to her.

So two days have gone by and Ashley’s father comes in here room and tell her to get ready because she was going to her mothers house. So Ashley got dressed and walked out the door to get in the car. So Ashley, her brother, and her dad rode down the Airport Road to get to my moms house. We arrived around 6:30 and when we got here me and my little brother gave my mother a hug and went to put our stuff in the house. In the mist of us putting our stuff in the house my mother asked to speak to my dad, he replied by saying sure.

When Ashley walked in the house she showed her respect to her mothers husband by saying Hey to him (Ashley doesn’t like her mothers husband) he takes a long pause before replying and rolls his eyes as he says what up to Ashley. So Ashley peep game on what he did and just ignored it and walked in her sisters and put her bag down and sat on the bed.

Three to Five minutes later Ashley herd her mom and dad arguing so she ignored it until she herd the front screen door open. So Ashley walked in the living room and noticed that her mother’s husband was gone. Ashley walked outside and stood next to her dad (Ashley is a daddy girl) and listened to the conversation. So Ashley’s moms husband decides to jump into the conversation and try and snap. So Ashley started to push her dad towards the car and him to just go and in the car and go home. Ashley’s Mom: Y are you pushing him away, we aren’t doing s*** but talking to him. Ashley: Nawl man yall aint finna double-team my daddy like that. Ashley’s mom: Girl bye, since you love your daddy so much go with him. Ashley dad tells her to go get her stuff and come own. Ashley is heated (38 HOT).

So Ashley walks in the house to get her stuff, on her way back out the door she slams the door not noticing that she slammed it that hard. Then all the pictures fell of the wall and Ashley’s mom husband comes out side yelling at Ashley saying if you break something you are paying for it and Ashley turns around and yells “SHUT UP TALKING TO ME YOU ARE NOT MY DAD!!!” Ashley’s mom comes behind her and pushes her and Ashley almost fall, and have a quick reaction and throws down her stuff and turn around as if she was to fight her mother. Ashley’s dad ran in between her mother and her. While Ashley’s mothers husband is just watching as if he wants them to fight. Ashley is just standing there looking at her mother while her mother is yelling and calling her everything in the book except a child of god. Ashley never raised her hand at her mother because he knew she has already disrespected her and Ashley will never disrespect her mother to that level.

Ashley’s sister hears all the commotion from their mom and comes out side and stand on the porch and yells at Ashley “ DON’T YOU HIT MY MAMA.” So her sister comes get their mama and takes her to the porch. Ashley mom yells at here that she is a disrespectful child and tells her a lot of hurtful things. So finally Ashley goes and get in the car and her mom is yelling at her dad.

Ashley’s dad tells her mom that she should be ashamed of her self then gets in the car and pulls off. In the mist of them pulling off Ashley’s dad asks if she is okay. Ashley nods her head yes. Then her dad goes on to say that he is sorry. Ashley doesn’t reply she just stares out the window. Five minutes later Ashley’s dad asks her if she is sure that she is okay. Ashley nods her head yes again. Then he goes on to say Ashley will not have to go threw that ever again. Fifteen minutes later they arrive at home and Ashley gets out the car and walks in the house and into her room. She gets in her room and sits on her bed and starts to cry. Ashley’s dad walks in and sits next to her and comforts her. Ashley cries harder and harder saying that she is sorry repeatedly. After eight to ten minutes Ashley stops crying and lays down and tries to go to sleep. Ashley’s dad leaves.

Ashley takes a nap and wake up at 2:30 am she wakes up to text messages from here sister. Saying how disrespectful she is and all this and that. Ashley ignores it and texts her mom a long paragraph saying that she is sorry and that she hopes she forgives her. Ashley waits for about six hours for a reply and never gets one.

The Teenage Brains

The title of the passage I read was Teenage Brains Are Malleable And Vulnerable Reaches Say By: John Hamilton. It was about the studies of teenager brains and how they develop. The questions engaged on text because you had to actually look for the answer. It wasn’t just in plain sight you had to read and think about it. I had to reread the text like 2 or 3 times to help me understand it better.

How Igloos Are Constructed

Hi to all of you that is reading this post I am Tilisha and picked the topic Igloos. I hope you enjoy and learn something new or interesting about what I have written about igloos. I picked the topic igloos because I wanted to learn about igloos and how they are constructed. I have watched a clip from the movie version of the text, “To Build A Fire.” The research that i have done is relates to the text because the man in the video could have built an igloo instead of making open fires repeatedly. My topic relates to this week’s text because, it was 50 below and most people that go on expeditions build igloos. A movie that i’ve watched is Snow Buddies, and it relates to my topic and the story because the people in the movie rested in igloos and it is snowing. I’m pretty cure it was cold there also. I think the best part of this assignment was researching the topic and finding all the interesting facts about the topic you have chosen.

I asked myself several questions like: Why don’t igloos melt when there is a fire inside? Are igloos capable of getting warm or are igloos warm? Who built the first igloo? When i googled my questions i found some interesting things about igloos are like the reason that the igloo do not melt when there is a fire inside is because the fire is placed in the middle of the igloo farthest away from the walls, also the ice of the igloo will loose heat to the cold air outside. The Inuit also known as the Eskimos are said to have invented the igloo. Igloos are warm because snow insulates. Also the dome shaped offers little resistance to the wind inside an igloo. Igloos are also usually 32°. This topic was easy to research except the fact that I couldn’t find the answers to some of my questions so I changed the questions and it made it easier.

My information came from http://www.funtrivia.com, www.Google.com, and https://www.reference.com. If I could research another topic for next week it would be what makes people happy, sad, upset, ect. Emotions are what i would like to study.  For those who have read this what was the most interesting fact about your topic? What would you like to research? Did you find my post interesting? If there is any questions or comments please comment below. Thank You!!😊
